All the best to you. You must have thought & compared all the limitations.
In my opinion the issues, advantages & disadvantages change from country to country. It depends on a person how S/He applies those yardsticks during & to particular circumstances. One thing I can not agree more about is the opportunities in education available in US compared to India. I know people will be all over me after saying this but inspite of cost being the factor (which unfortunately is also a factor in case of some good institutions in India now) the avenues available to young generation in US irrespective of their cast/religion/race & financial ability is comparitively greater in US.
More importantly most of us will be able to adjust to changes relatively quickly but if we have kids who are raised in this system & are at high school level it will be really challanging for them to enter the system in India.

They approved my EAD and Adv Parole (last month within 2 weeks of application), but no progress on my case :confused:

I think we all understand we are in this together. No doubt.
A single post from CORE IV can make a huge difference to herd the cattle (including myself) here. For Instance, AILA letter asking for H1B and EB relief today.
I had posted a modified version of their letter in our forum in which I had deleted asking for raise in H1 and retained only EB part. IF IV core thinks
this is a good (or a bad ) idea and suggests what to do, our members will be energized.
For my part, I have added my personal story, added the EB relief part of AILA letter and emailed two senators and one congressman in my state.
Also, the same letters signed are ready in an envelope to be snail mailed.
So, IV core, from time to time, when there is a campaign by AILA and other organizations which could help us, please suggest how you would like us to proceed.I am not trying to create more work for you, but as a member, I think it would benefit all of us.

It involves but not limited to funding drive to sustain and grow efforts, membership drive to grow in size and have impact of numbers, generating awareness and building support via media articles. Speculating will not help much. Pls. do participate in these drives in order to build momentum for the coming months and we will all have better chances for any legislative change. No approvals today? Whats going on???
There were a couple of approvals today from TSC by looking at the other site.But slowed down a lot. Maybe USCIS is taking a break this last week and preparing for the next month:)

I can tell you there are roughly 100,000 labor applications filed (50,000 EB3) between Aug 2003 and Dec 2003 for EB India category. The reason was everybody wanted to clear thru regular process before PERM takes over. Those Labors filed after Aug 2003 and before PERM started are moved into backlog and are fully cleary last 4 th quarter. And so 90% of those EB3s may be still there (45,000) hanging. EB2s could have been cleared substantially till Dec 2003. It is all my guess work and not sceintific or factual. also ..this looks very inaccurate ..because I know lot of indians who got H1 during the peak (when h1 was 195k) have gone back. i.e either they got better oppurtunities back home or just went back as they were not getting jobs. I did stay in one of the guest house which had lots of consultants ..none of them are here anymore !!

Love India, gave me the best time.
Came to US for higher education. Love USA.
Not yet in the GC mess, but if I want to stay here, I will have to get in. (Hoping that the problem will be solved by the time I apply :D )
Visited India and love the progress. The final act of moving to India is not always GC, money or lifestyle. It boils down to the family one has in India. Having been away from India for long, don't feel comfortable with relatives anymore. Recently lost my dad, who meant everything to me. Can't think of going back to a place where he is not there anymore!
Good luck to all who decide to go back to India and Good luck to all who decide to stay back in the US.

My attorney asked just to give one cheque for $745 each for myself and my spouse for I-485, I -131 and I-765. Our applications will be filed today.
Is this OK. Will all the 3 receipt numbers be printed on the back of one cheque. Please let me know if anyone of you have done the same. Thank you.

You can view my past posts in IV, I am not Desi employer but I may become very soon to employ myself (very close to get GC :-) )
This is not a personal advice but general appeal to all would be employers.
I hope you have researched and understood obligations of an employer.
By virtue of owning the business and taking 100% of returns, the employer has to assume 100% risk.
If not on revenue sharing with employee ( 80-20 etc) , the employer has no business of NOT paying on bench. Either the employee is on rolls or has to be advised to take LOA or let go.
For other unprofessional tactics, there is simply no excuse. Employment is at will. If employers cant deal with that, too bad. They should not be starting the business.
I have worked with Desi employers who have consistently run on best practices and completely adhering to law of the land. It can be done and the cost of doing that has to be factored into the business plan. If it is too costly as per your financial numbers, then you are not ready for it financially.
