Hi Gurus,
I was looking at the processing times for the NSC 485 applications and it shows March , 2007.
Does it mean that all June 1st filers will be getting their 485 approvals by September ( barring any RFE and name check delays)???
Or is it Wishful Thinking???
It would be great if we kept this thread for receipt issues only but..
Please read the Ombudsmans 2007 report pgs 17-21. These are not real processing times.
BTW, I can't believe there are *still* people on this forum who haven't read this report -- it spells out absolutely everything that is going on/wrong with all our greencards, and you can't be bothered to read it?? :cool:

Additionally , I saw a post about "5 reasons to not contribute" that was a gud one. I will bump that one up ...I am surprised that we cant get a 1000 people to contribute some money..An avg of $50 will get us beyond $50,000 (Obviously we dont need even 1000 people because many will contribute 100 or more) ..There just too many leaches who wait for others to do thier job..

On h1b u can start any business as long as the investment is passive. (something like investing in stocks, real estate etc) You cannot actively work for your business. The same applies to h4.

Running this thread to thousands of pages alone is not gonna help us. Do you guys have a conference call where I can join and take up some action items?
IF IV has to throw its might behind this bill we need to:
-Reach out to ALL lawmakers, target who are susceptible (Sen. Brown from MA for example)
-Use phone calls (Can we have a mass phone campaign)
-Radio shows (Do we have a Radio show in Washington DC where IV can get Air time. I am sure lawmakers do listen to Radio shows)
-Email (what this thread is about right now)

We are making great progress on this and glad to see tonnes of positive responses. For the people who are viewing this thread first time, please send your name, e-mail, ph number and the amount you are willing to contribute ( in case of a lawsuit ) to man-woman-and-gc who is graciously collecting information for us and adding them in the below spreadsheet. I have sent to my state senators + 10 senators IV identified. I have also sent an email to the ND senator after he voiced his support for our cause on the senate floor today. I now plan to write to all 2008 presidential candidates. Most importantly I am going to write to Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, as he has always been a champion of business and immigrant communities.

AFAIK all 485 filings have to be sent to NSC. Also, does one need to attach the original I-140 approval with I-485 or a copy of it will suffice?

There has been some pickup in contributions, however based on this average, we may only reach 25% of our funding goal. Some things like reserving conference rooms, appointments, need to be done well in advance.
If anyone already has other large financial commitments you could even send a check for a smaller amount and post it here for accounting. Please also let all your friends know about this event and attend and/or contribute. I promise to contribute more.
Amount raised = $2100.00
Contributions needed = $47,900.00

I am very sorry and shocked to hear this news. I pray to GOD so don't lose hope.. everything will be OK .... I think taking second/third opinion is going to help and as far as your wife Immigiration case .. I think some members mentioned about talking to Attorney .. You can also drop a email to Sheila Mutrhy and Rajive Khanna. I am sure they will come out and help...

It depends on where ur I140 approval came from. What I mean by lag is they receive the application on 1st jun, they are working on assigning the lin # after 6 days. If they were at the same pace they should start working on the new I485 recived on Jun 1st today.

Guys, when you write to senators/WH/ other officials, Its important to include the reasons for this huge backlog. 1) Wasted visa numbers due to CIS inefficiencies for past decade.
2) Country quota... I believe the visa waste is more of a problem on their side. Also when you highlight a problem, do not just end with problem, quantify with quoting the visa bulletin's memos and other statistics from ombudsman's report.
Important, include a suggested approach to resolution as well.. which is "Recapture the wasted visa numbers and elimination / fixing the dispropotionate of country quota". This will atleast set the precendence to thought process on the fix.
abrupt and emotional emails would not cut it in this protectionist environment created due to job loss and economy. Just a humble suggestion. We have to be a part of solution to housing problem as well.

I landed in Jan08 thru Windsor border in Michigan. I drove in my car to CA. You'll go to the immigration officer who'll check your landing docs, and then ask you to sign the landing document. Then show them the proof of funds. I had a cashier's check for the amount. Then you'll be asked for an address in CA. If asked tell them you are planning to settle at the address. If you say you are returning to US, they'll not give you the PR card saying when you come to live in CA they'll issue it. I made that mistake. They stamp your passport with the entry stamp. Without a PR card you can't enter CA at an airport. Your only option is driving to CA thru a land border. They'll let you in with just the stamp on the PP. Fortunately I live close to Windsor border.
As someone pointed out, you'll then go to customs, where they'll check the goods you are bringing or plan to bring later. There are 2 different forms for 'bringing goods with you' and 'goods to follow'. Make sure you fill in all the item in your home on the 'goods to follow' with some details like model number, etc. If you are not planning to live to CA, don't fill anything on the 'bringing goods form.

Guys,
Since I have not received my receipts or my checks are not cleared, I am hoping that my case got transfered to TSC or CSC. Nebraska is now producing receipts for applications filed on the first week of August. I see this big void from July 3rd to July 20th that people did not get their receipts. How many of you got receipts in this time frame from NSC?
